Presto Plate Reknown

Gretsch is world famous for making some of the best-sounding drums. They were an integral part of the sound of jazz during the 1940s-1970s. While Gretsch made some great snare drums, the Reknown strainer was certainly a weak spot.

Problem:
The Gretsch Reknown strainer simply wasn’t a good design from the beginning. The lever was cheaply made, very susceptible to bending and binding, and was anything but smooth. Even with a perfectly functioning unit, you almost have to use two hands to turn the snare unit on and off. The lever doesn’t drop down on its own when you disengage it. You have to physically move it down the full length of the throw, which makes quick changes very difficult. Over time the factory grease wears away, making normal operation of the strainer nearly impossible. If the strainer hasn’t been used for a long period of time, it can actually seize. Countless malfunctioning Reknown strainers have been yanked off, only to have the owner hastily drill extra holes in a perfectly good drum shell for a better replacement strainer.

Solution:
Get that treasured old round badge or stop sign badge snare up and running and sounding better than ever with a Presto Plate adapting plate!
