Presto Plate Zoomatic

Slingerland made some of the best snare drums in the 1930s-1970s. In the early 1960s, the Zoomatic strainer was introduced on Slingerland’s Artist model snares as a replacement to the “Super” or “Clam” strainer. The Zoomatic in general was a very good strainer that operated smoothly and quietly. There were a couple of pesky problems though….

Problem:
While this strainer was way ahead of the Clam, over time it developed problems of its own. The snare wire adjustment knob can become loose and pop off over time. This knob is a machine pressed-on piece that cannot be reattached once it comes off. The strainer will still work, but you can’t adjust snare wire tension without a pair of pliers. If the Zoomatic’s snare wire adjustment knob is still attached, it will often work itself loose under medium to heavy playing conditions. Countless Zoomatic strainers have been yanked off, only to have the owner hastily drill extra holes in a perfectly good drum shell for a better replacement strainer.

Solution:
Get your classic Slingerland Artist snare to perform reliably and have it back to sounding as good as ever with the Presto Plate adapting plate. Our Zoomatic plates work great on 3-ply, solid shell, chrome-over-brass, and chrome-over-steel models.

About the Presto Plate Zoomatic:
The Presto Plate Zoomatic is made out of sturdy maple plywood that is curved to conform to the shape of your drum. Our standard strainer is included and pre-installed on the plate. It blends very well aesthetically, functions flawlessly, and will provide years of trouble-free service. The hole-spacing has been precisely measured and designed so you get an exact fit on your drum. You can order the Zoomatic in a wide variety of wraps or natural maple or black stain. If you have a chrome Slingerland Krupa snare, the plate can be covered in a chrome wrap to blend better with your snare. Please note that the original Zoomatic snare wires that are extended on the butt side will work great with the Presto Plate.

We have a limited stock of original vintage wrap that Slingerland used in the 1960s-1970s. Contact us about availability of sparkle, pearl, onyxs, and satin flame. Please add $5 for vintage wraps.
